Stories fascinate us all our lives. As children, we loved to read fairy tales—stories filled with humor, suspense, magic, and adventures. Tales of witches and warlocks, princes and princesses, they’d draw us in, transport us to another place, fuel our imagination, and make us believe that anything is possible.

Unfortunately, we lose some playful curiosity and creative imagination we have as kids when we get older. But it doesn’t get lost forever. When we see fairy tale books or spot fairy tale and fantasy emojis such as the 🦄 Unicorn emoji, 🧝‍♀️ Elf emoji, or even the 👻 Ghost emoji, we go back to when we were kids, lying in bed, waiting for our parents to read fairy tales to us.

The Benefits Of Being Childlike

Contrary to what most people think, losing our childlike attributes and our childhood sense of wonder can be bad for us. When we were kids, we believed in ourselves, and our view of the world was without limitation. As adults, we always think of the negative consequences before they happen! “I can’t do this because what will people say,” or “I can’t do this because I am not good enough” are some thoughts that would run through our minds.

According to psycho-educator Fiona Gauntlett, all children are born with the gift of being able to live fully in the present. They are receptive and fully absorbed in their life experiences. So, if we were to analyze this, to live life to the fullest and unleash one’s full potential, one needs to release their inner kid. We know, we know, it sounds a bit cuckoo, but it’s the truth! If you think that’s awkward, a significant way to start would be to use fairy tales and fantasy emojis.

In case you’re thinking, why emojis? What we say to that is—why not? People of all ages use emojis. Emojis help add context to digital communication. They help us distinguish the tone or mood of a message. Emojis continually give people more ways to creatively express themselves. That said, why don’t we go over a few popular fantasy emojis to get you started?

The 👹 Ogre emoji is commonly used to express anger due to his red face.

To sum it up, the 👹 Ogre emoji represents things that are scary or grotesque. Did you know that the 👹 Ogre emoji and the 👻 Ghost emoji have several things in common? They’re both symbols that look like their TV, movie, or literary counterparts.

Conclusion

Kids walking down the street, playing

Photo from Columbia Missourian

As adults, we often think more years of experience means being wiser and more learned. However, if we were to take time to observe the behavior of kids, we will come to realize that children know a lot we don’t. One big example of this is how they see life. To many, it’s as if life comes so naturally to them. When kids fall down while walking in the street, they cry a bit, remove the dust from their knees, and start walking again.

Live Like A Kid

But as we grow older, we look at life in a more complex way. Without a doubt, for many, life is complex. Really complex. But it isn’t always healthy to see life in that manner. Many life coaches and authors of self-improvement books advise that it is healthy to simplify life. We need to remove the unnecessary facets of life that cause us worry, stress, and undue concern. In other words, we need to be like kids! Come to think of it, with all the terrible things happening in the world, reconnecting with one’s inner child could be just the thing we need to heal ourselves, and eventually, to heal the world.
