The female sign emoji shows the symbol of the female gender, which is a circle on top of a cross. Most platforms display this as a white symbol inside a pink square. This emoji is often used to indicate that the sender’s gender is female. In some other cases, this emoji can also be used to simply refer to the female gender as a whole.

♀️ Female Sign is a fully-qualified emoji as part of Unicode 1.1 which was introduced in 1993, and was added to Emoji 4.0.
