How do I type emojis on an iPhone?

Open any keyboard, tap the 😀 smiley icon at the bottom-left next to the space bar, then tap the emoji you want. You can also swipe the keyboard to the Emoji Keyboard pane.

To enable the emoji keyboard if it's missing: Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard → Emoji.
