How do I type emojis on a Mac?

Press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer. Double-click any emoji to insert it. You can search by keyword inside the picker, and pinned favorites stay at the top.

On newer macOS versions (Sonoma and later) the global keyboard shortcut is also Fn + E on MacBook keyboards that have an Fn key.
