Is the 🙏 emoji praying hands or a high-five?

The Unicode name is Folded Hands. It represents the Japanese gesture of thanks or apology (it was added to support Japanese mobile users in the 2000s). Depending on the culture, it now reads as please / thank you / praying / namaste. It is not a high-five, despite a persistent myth.
